State of affairs
Mon General Hospital, a subsidiary of Mon Health, serves as the county hospital for Monongalia County, West Virginia. The hospital maintains excellent relationships with all of its physicians by providing high-quality care in a safe environment. At the time, the hospital lacked a strategy to strengthen its relationship with some key physician groups in the area. Mon Health needed a company with experience in deploying outpatient strategies for ASCs to help provide them with a solid strategic direction towards success.
The HVP Solution
HVP was hired in August 2015 to develop the JV ASC with a goal of building a solid, long term partnership with the physician partners while allowing them to remain independent practices. HVP performed an extensive amount of research by analyzing data, conducting physician interviews, and preparing financial projections for the JV ASC. “HVP’s expertise in the ASC field is second to none. They sought my input for key decisions and kept the surgeons informed every step of the way.” said Administrator Stacey Ferguson.
Outcome
MHCOS was developed and opened its doors in March 2017. The HVP clinical team immediately began building strong relationships with surgeons and began implementing metrics to track behaviors such as a Patient Satisfaction Surveys and Monthly Dashboard Reports. The center is very profitable boasting a positive Operating Income within 6 months of opening. MHCOS continues to provide consistent, positive cash flows and boasts excellent clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction survey results. Most recently, MHCOS and HVP have formed a steering committee to develop a Total Joint Program for the ASC.
